"Celebration of Service" Adds Five Names to the Line of Duty Death at the RI Firefighters Memorial |

The RI Firefighters Memorial added five names to its Line of Duty Death Wall of Honor. The wall now honors the names of 154 RI firefighters from 1828 through 2023. The annual Celebration of Service was held on May 11, 2024 with a large contingent of firefighters, honor guards, color guards, RI Professional Pipe & Drum Band, chiefs, dignitaries and family & friends of the fire Service. Added to the wall this year were the following, Chief John H.P. Burdick – North Kingstown FD - January 14, 1929 Deputy Chief Kevin Quinn of the Union Fire District was the keynote speaker. Quinn is a member of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the past chairman of the National Volunteer Fire Council. A Maltese Cross wreath of flowers was placed at the monument by Chief Quinn, Scott Kettelle, Chief of the North Kingstown FD & retired Deputy Chief Paul Reed of the Cranston FD. RI Fire Academy Director, Chief Mark Pare, was the master of ceremonies. |
