Physical Performance Assessment (PPA) Test Information
Next Online Registration is - January 30th to February 11th, 2012

The RIAFC will offer the Firefighter Physical Performance Assessment Test (PPA) for firefighter candidates. Registration will be held online only from January 30th to February 11th, 2012. A credit card or PayPal account is required ($100 for test only, $120 for test and practice, plus Pay pal fees). Most Rhode Island fire departments accept this PPA certificate. For specific department information and/or requirements, contact the local fire department.
A certificate recognizing a passing time (time limit 8 minutes) will be handed out immediately following your test should you pass. Your certificate is good for one (1) full year. Individual cities or towns reserve the right to request specifically dated tests, which may require you to take the test twice in a 12-month period.
A completed Medical Examination Form signed within 1 year of test date and Waiver and Release Form must be submitted at the practice session or test session. Without these forms you will not be permitted to participate in the PPA nor will the PPA be rescheduled.
PPA Test Dates: April 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd and 28th, 2012
Once you have paid online with a valid credit card or PayPal account , a test date/time and a practice session date/time (if chosen) will be assigned.Dates and times are issued in order, on a first registered, first scheduled basis. Earlier dates are filled first, in order, and later dates are filled as needed. Remember: in order to participate in a practice session, you must select that option during the registration process.
PPA Practice Session Dates: March 3rd and 4th, 2012
If you chose to sign up for a practice session, you will need to show a photo ID and submit the signed medical and PPA waiver and release forms on the day of the practice session. If you do not submit the required paperwork, you will be allowed to OBSERVE ONLY.
Day of Testing
If you participated in a practice session (and submitted all required paperwork), you only need to bring a photo ID the day of testing. If you did not participate in a practice session, you will need to bring a photo ID and all required forms. If you do not submit all the required waiver and release forms, you will NOT be able to participate in the PPA testing nor will another date be scheduled for you.
